Terms of Service
1. What this service is
Advocate Websites rents ready-made websites to practising advocates. You get a website, an administrator panel to edit it, a choice of designs, and hosting for as long as your subscription is active. You may connect a domain you own.
2. Who may use it
This service is for advocates enrolled with a Bar Council in India, and for firms of advocates. You must be entitled to publish the professional details you enter. You are responsible for keeping your account details accurate.
3. Your content is yours
Everything you write, upload or publish remains yours. We store and serve it so your website works; we do not claim ownership of it and we do not sell it. You are responsible for what you publish, including that it is accurate and that you have the right to use any images.
4. Professional conduct rules
Advocates in India are bound by the Bar Council of India Rules, including Rule 36 on advertising and solicitation. Your website is your own publication: you are responsible for keeping it within those rules. The software will warn you about wording that commonly causes problems, and every site carries a disclaimer, but the responsibility for what you publish remains yours and we cannot give you legal advice about it.
5. Free trial
New accounts include a free trial. No payment is taken during the trial. If you do not subscribe before it ends, your website stops being served to visitors, but your content is kept for a reasonable period so you can return.
6. Subscription and payment
Subscriptions are sold monthly, six-monthly or yearly and are payable in advance. Prices are shown on the pricing page and include the taxes stated there. Payment is taken through PhonePe; we do not see or store your card or bank details.
7. Suspension
If a subscription lapses we mark the account past due and continue serving your website through a short grace period. After that the website is paused until payment is made. Your administrator panel stays reachable throughout so you can pay and restore the site. We may also suspend an account that is being used unlawfully or in breach of these terms.
8. Availability
We aim to keep the service running continuously, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, hosting faults and problems at your domain registrar can all cause downtime. We are not liable for losses caused by the service being unavailable.
9. Limits of our responsibility
We provide the software and hosting. We are not your lawyer, we do not review your content for legal compliance, and we are not responsible for the professional consequences of what you choose to publish. To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
10. Ending the agreement
You may cancel at any time from your account; your site continues until the end of the period you have paid for. We may end the agreement with reasonable notice, or immediately where the service is being used unlawfully.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. Where a change materially affects you we will tell you by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that counts as accepting the change.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction.
